How to cure acne in men?

How to cure acne in men?

Acne and pimples are only for teenagers? Not really, there are many adults who still break out even after they have passed high school years ago. Unlike women, men tend to suffer from intense breakout session that too need appropriate treatments. One of the prime cause of acne in men is higher levels of androgen (male hormones) that increases after puberty. Due to this increase male, skin gets thicker and produce more sebum (twice than normal) that may become the prime cause of acne in men.
Men dealing with frequent acne breakouts should seek for appropriate treatments that can treat the persistent acne. Here are few ways to get rid of acne in men:

1. Build a powerful cleansing routine:

A proper cleansing regimen can become one of the best acne treatment for men. Because it will eliminate the dirt and clear the pores from acne causing bacteria. Do not worry you will not need tons of products to maintain a good skin care routine. Some men just need a good face cleanser, a moisturizer with an acne treatment applied every morning and evening. There are two types of treatments that are recommended to be used with skin care routine:
- Over the counter treatments:
Over the counter available acne medications that contain benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or sulfur can treat the painful pimple/acne in men. There are creams, lotions, cleansing pads available that can be used along with a healthy skin care routine.
- For severe adult acne:
Men who suffer from severe acne are prescribed by their dermatologist with Benzoyl peroxide, antibiotics or retinoid products. However, if the condition persists, then the doctor may prescribe the use of Isotretinoin (Accutane: common name) for 15 to 20 weeks. Accutane is considered as the best acne treatment for men as it can cure the type of cystic acne when other treatments failed to treat.

2. Be-careful when shaving:

Shaving with the wrong razor or shaving cream can irritate the skin and cause breakouts. Be careful when using a razor, always use a clean and sterilized one. Avoid sharing razors with others as they can transfer germs and cause breakout. Always read the labels of shaving cream ingredient or ask your dermatologist for a recommendation.

3. Sun protection:

Men who are using any acne treatment, especially isotretinoin, should avoid the sun as much as possible. Getting a sunburn can aggravate the acne and may harm the skin.
Like women, men too suffer from acute acne conditions, so they should not avoid the painful zits at any cost. Acne, pimples are like any other skin disease that need proper treatments and care.
